That lasted far longer than it needed to last."Ī stint in drug rehabilitation followed shortly afterward, but Downey's struggles with drugs and alcohol would continue. Then things changed, and, in some ways, I became an exaggeration of the character. The character was an exaggeration of myself. I was playing this junkie-faggot guy, and, for me, the role was like the ghost of Christmas future. "Maybe I'd turn up hungover on the set, but no more so than the stuntman. Design of a chef’s knifeĪ chef’s knife features a long broad blade thick at the heel and tapers to a fine point. Recently, it has become the primary all-purpose kitchen knife used for nearly everything, including slicing vegetables. Initially, the purpose of the chef’s knife was to disjoint and slice large chunks of meat. An all-purpose cleaver is a good option if you want a versatile knife that can handle most kitchen tasks without being too heavy or difficult to use.Ī chef’s knife is an all-purpose knife ideal for slicing, dicing, and mincing. It has a relatively thicker blade than a vegetable cleaver but is not as thick or heavy as a meat cleaver. All-purpose cleavers: Also known as the chopper knife, the Chinese all-purpose cleaver is a versatile knife that can handle most kitchen tasks. It’s much heavier with a thicker blade, which makes it suitable for cutting tougher ingredients. Also known as gu dao, the knife gets its name from its ability to chop through bones and other tough meat. Meat cleavers: The Chinese meat cleaver is the heaviest and most powerful type of Chinese cleaver. While it doesn’t have the heft or power of a meat cleaver, it’s still relatively sturdy and can handle tougher ingredients like squash and sweet potatoes. It has a lighter blade with a thinner and sharper edge. Vegetable cleavers: Also known as Cai Dao, the Chinese vegetable cleaver is one of the most common Chinese kitchen knives.Given the varied features of the different types of Chinese cleavers, it’s important to choose the one that best suits your needs. Scoop them up and slide them off the blade.Ĭhinese cleavers come in three main types: Transferring cut pieces: You can also use the broad surface to transfer chopped vegetables or meat from the cutting board to a pot or pan.Crushing: You can also use the flat side of the blade to crush garlic or ginger. To mince, hold the ingredient with one hand and chop it with a back-and-forth motion. Mincing: The flat edge of the blade makes Chinese cleavers excellent for mincing garlic, ginger, and shallots.Chopping: The broad, rectangular blade and heft of a Chinese cleaver make it ideal for chopping through tougher ingredients like chicken bones and root vegetables. The broad surface also provides a stable cutting platform to make precise cuts. Slicing: Some Chinese cleavers have a thinner blade, which makes them great for slicing meat, fish, and vegetables. However, its features make it especially well-suited for certain tasks. Uses of a Chinese cleaverĪ Chinese cleaver is an all-purpose knife. ![]() The shape and heft can be intimidating at first, but once you get the hang of using it, you’ll appreciate how easy it is to chop through vegetables and meat. ![]() ![]() The upper edge of the rectangular blade features a full tang that extends into the handle for added strength and durability. While other knives distribute their weight evenly, a Chinese cleaver has most of the weight centered on the blade. The blade is also heavier than most knives, which gives it more heft and makes it better for chopping through tougher ingredients like chicken bones. It has a broad, rectangular blade with a flat edge measuring 6–9 inches long and 4–5 inches wide. The design of a Chinese cleaver is what makes it so versatile. However, given its unique design and multi-purpose application, it continues to grow in popularity among chefs worldwide. The best way to describe a Chinese cleaver is “a knife that does it all.” It’s a versatile tool ideal for everything from chopping vegetables to breaking down a chicken.Īs the name suggests, the Chinese cleaver originated from China, where it’s still a kitchen staple. ![]() 9/1/2023 0 Comments Draftsight electrical free![]() It runs on web-browser tech and so can even run on the likes of a cellphone. It simply "phone's home" to check out 'one user'. This makes all the cheap packages considerably more expensive than Autocad itself.Īutocad's single license runs on anything you have anywhere you have it. This means I have to buy two seats to do my normal one-individual CAD. This is completely incompatible with the premise of working on my office computer OR my home laptop. (*) All other CAD packages seem to require you run "server" software to share the license on other hardware and uselessly the computers must all share the same network. I can probably rationalize that over $180 for, say, NanoCad with it's horrid licensing limits(*). "Summer sale", whatever the hell that means, is $800 for a 3 year term. Now I'm faced with contemplating a subscription to ACAD LT. Geez what a difference! I haven't used Autocad in about 8 years and I was instantly back on track getting the job done in about a third of the time and with NO frustration. In a fit of frustration with some of Draftsight's own idiocy I downloaded the trial form of ACAD Lite. Kcress - RE: Draftsight 2019 - no longer Free itsmoked (Electrical) 21 Jul 19 03:30 What the hell's wrong with them? How hard is it to keep track of how many copies of a license are running on the planet? NanoCAD does offer floating licences except they demand the floaters be on the same network. So that would mean I'd have to buy 2 copies even though only one would ever be running at a time. I work on drawings at home and at the office and they're allowing only one CPU period. I'd probably go with DraftSight except their licensing sucks for me. (Free for hobbyists or companies doing less than x$ business.) It's also twice the price of DraftSight.Īs for DraftSight ransoming our drawings, is that really true? Can't we store them on our hardware and access them with any DFX or DWG tool? This is not like Fusion360 where you really are ransomed except they have a really generous licencing agreement. I hope nanoCAD doesn't pull the same trick on us. Kcress - RE: Draftsight 2019 - no longer Free SBaugh (Mechanical) I'm glad to hear there are some alternatives. It would appear and in the time it took to read the file name it would vaporize it and my antiV would pop up a window to inform me of a 'save'. Hilariously my anti virus program found and nixed the keycracker every time it opened. I thought about using a cracked version to keep the files on MY computer instead of their cloud. ![]() So today the same thing 'you must activate (again!)' but with that nasty in- red you shall bend over after December. Really aggravating, especially since the activation process was broken about half the time. I've always cursed the Dassault idiots because on two computers at least one would be whining about needing to be "activated" every rare time I opened it. I use DraftSight about 10 times a year to cobble up a cnc router part or a field wiring diagram. ![]() 9/1/2023 0 Comments Freenas cifs permissions![]() ![]() This appeared to resolve my rsync issue and my rsync linux account could now properly access the other 2 shares that had limited access by group. I would rather not keep using the vers=1.0 kluge I would prefer to do this correctly.Okay folks, I think I found a solution, but it seems a little strange to me, that this just occurred because of the upgrade.įirst, I started with the Data Set itself and basically reapplied the same permissions recursively. I know there's supposed to be a mapping performed by cifs.idmap and winbindd, but I haven't figured out exactly how that's done or how to set it up. I can actually create, modify, and delete files in the share, but they appear as root-owned. But now the UIDs are wrong, and everything looks like it's owned by root. r-xr-xr-x 1 root root 0 Apr 21 00:09 R-XR-XR-Xĭespite the options file_mode=0755,dir_mode=0755 still being injected, the permissions are now appearing correctly. rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 0 Apr 21 00:08 RWXR-XR-X However, when I add the mount option cifsacl: sudo mount.cifs -o "user=me,noperm, multiuser, cifsacl" //freenas/me $HOME/mntĪnd enter my credentials for the server via the cifscreds command, I get these results: //freenas/me on /home/me/mnt type cifs ls -al mnt/testdir/ Since my ultimate goal is to have several concurrent users all connecting to their own home directories with their own credentials, I started experimenting with this mount incantation, specifically the multiuser option: sudo mount.cifs -o "user=me,noperm, multiuser" //freenas/me ls -al mnt/testdir/ I have not yet figured out where these unwanted options are coming from. Something has injected file_mode=0755,dir_mode=0755 into the mount options, and the resulting permissions are 0x755 on all files, regardless of their actual permissions, which is obviously wrong. However, if I do not explicitly specify vers=1.0, then this happens: //freenas/me on /home/me/mnt type cifs ls -al mnt/testdir/ However, the mount is forcing SMB version 1.0, which is old and busted. And our test directory shows up with the following modes/permissions: ls -al mnt/testdir/ Once done, the following entry appears in the mtab: //freenas/me on /home/me/mnt type cifs (rw,relatime,vers=1.0,cache=strict,username=me,domain=,uid=1000,forceuid,gid=1000,forcegid,addr=X.X.X.X,soft,unix,posixpaths,serverino,mapposix,acl,rsize=1048576,wsize=65536,echo_interval=60,actimeo=1) (The above is actually normally performed by autofs, but that turns out to be not relevant.) The current mount incantation looks something like this: sudo mount.cifs -o 'vers=1.0,username=me,uid=me,gid=me,credentials=]' //freenas/me $HOME/mnt The client is a Debian Sid (unstable) system with Samba v4.7.4 components, and cifs-utils version 6.8-1. It is basically running in standalone/workgroup mode there is no AD/domain controller, and I don't want one if I can avoid it. The server is a FreeNAS system running Samba 4.7.0. The problem is that I can't get files on the CIFS share to show correct permissions on the Linux client without forcing vers=1.0 in the mount options. ![]() |
